How Emerald Fern Finishes Works
Once you've selected your products, we prepare a custom quote that includes product pricing, freight, and taxes. After you approve and submit payment, we place the order directly with the manufacturer on your behalf and coordinate delivery.
Unlike multi-billion-dollar corporations with massive real-time inventory systems, we intentionally operate as a small, ethical, woman- and Black-owned distribution company focused on relationships, not automation.
Choosing to move your dollars through a business like ours means opting into a more personal, transparent, and values-driven experience.
It’s a different way of buying — and one you can feel good about every time you use the spaces in your home.
Yes! Many of our vendors supply the same manufacturers used by large national retailers. The difference is your dollars stay in real communities instead of funding shareholder profits and political lobbying.
Shipping times vary by product and brand, but most orders ship within 1–3 weeks. You'll receive full timing details with your quote and tracking information after your invoice is paid.
We partner directly with manufacturers and ship from their regional warehouses to get you the best availability and pricing.
Yes! We specialize in curated kitchen and bathroom bundles, guiding you through every selection so your project stays cohesive, functional, and stress-free.
No — most of our brands sell exclusively through authorized distributors like us. We handle pricing, ordering, shipping coordination, and support so your experience stays simple.
You'll always communicate directly with our team here at Emerald Fern Finishes — never a call center, chatbot, or vendor maze.
Returns and exchanges vary by manufacturer, but we advocate for you throughout the process. If there's a defect, damage, or ordering error on our part, we make it right. For change-of-mind returns, we'll help you understand the manufacturer's policy before you order so there are no surprises.

Chicago, Washington DC, Columbus, OH, Rally NC area is free for orders over $3000 and $250 for orders less than $3000
National shipping is calculated by location and included in your quote — no surprise freight bills. Lead time from stock is 3 days to 2 weeks depending on finish selected.
Rose Hill Cabinets offer the same professional-grade construction as semi-custom and custom lines — plywood boxes, dovetail drawers, soft-close hardware, and full-extension glides — at stock cabinet pricing. Most big-box stock cabinets use particle board boxes and lower-quality hardware. Rose Hill gives you custom-level quality without the custom price tag or wait time.
Rose Hill is a stock program, which means each collection comes in pre-set door style and color combinations. You cannot mix door styles with different colors within a single collection. However, many homeowners create beautiful two-tone kitchens by pairing different Rose Hill collections — like Doric Modified Shaker on the island with Timeless Shaker uppers.
Yes. The construction is identical: plywood boxes, dovetail drawer construction, soft-close hinges, and metal full-extension glides are standard across stock, semi-custom, and custom categories. The difference is customization options and lead time, not quality. With semi-custom and custom, you're paying for more choices and longer timelines — not better construction.
Every Rose Hill cabinet includes:
Cabinet hardware (knobs and pulls) is not included and can be selected separately to match your design.
Rose Hill Cabinets ship ready to install. You'll need to hire a licensed contractor or installer in your area, or you can install them yourself if you have the skills. We're happy to provide guidance on what to look for when hiring an installer.
Yes! We recommend ordering door samples so you can see the color, finish, and construction quality in person before placing your full order. Contact us to request samples, and we'll send pricing and availability.
If your project requires non-standard sizes or modifications, Rose Hill's stock program won't work. In that case, we can connect you with our semi-custom or custom cabinet lines that offer more flexibility. However, most kitchens and baths can be designed beautifully using standard stock sizes with strategic filler strips and planning.
Yes! Rose Hill Cabinets work for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, mudrooms, and any other space where you need quality cabinetry. Vanity configurations are available in multiple sizes and finishes.
No. Countertops are sourced and installed separately. We can guide you toward countertop options and vendors, but countertops are not part of the cabinet order.
Because Rose Hill Cabinets are built to order, returns are subject to manufacturer policies. If there's a defect, damage during shipping, or an error on our part, we'll make it right. For change-of-mind returns, restocking fees may apply. We'll walk you through the full return policy before you place your order so there are no surprises.
You'll always have direct access to our team. Whether you need help with measurements, product selection, or coordinating delivery, we're here to support you from quote to installation. No call centers, no chatbots — just real people who care about your project.
Flooring is one of the first selections you should lock in — it anchors the look and feel of the entire space. Once your flooring is confirmed, everything else builds around it: cabinets, paint, fixtures, and trim. Finalizing your flooring early also protects your project timeline and prevents costly delays.
Most flooring is priced by the square foot or by the box, depending on the product line. You'll need your room's square footage to get an accurate estimate, and we always recommend purchasing 10–15% extra to account for cuts, waste, pattern matching, and future repairs. We'll help you calculate everything when you request a quote.
We order directly from our vendors — no warehouse markups, no middleman. Most in-stock flooring ships within 2–3 business days. Special order products and custom colors typically take 10–14 business days. If anything is backordered, we'll let you know right away so you can wait or choose an alternative.
It depends on the product and your space. Luxury vinyl plank and laminate are among the most DIY-friendly flooring options — most use a click-lock system that doesn't require adhesive or nails. Hardwood and engineered hardwood are more technical, especially in large rooms or with complex layouts, and typically benefit from a professional installer. Carpet installation almost always requires a contractor. Not sure what your flooring requires? Ask us and we'll give you a real answer.
The right flooring depends on the room's function, moisture exposure, and foot traffic.
LIVING ROOMS & BEDROOMS — Almost any flooring works here. Hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, LVP, and carpet are all popular choices depending on your style and budget.
KITCHENS — You need something durable and moisture-resistant. LVP, tile, and hardwood (properly sealed) are all solid options. Avoid carpet and non-waterproof laminate in kitchens.
BASEMENTS — Moisture is the primary concern. LVP is the top choice for below-grade spaces. Engineered hardwood can work in some conditions. Avoid solid hardwood and standard laminate.
BATHROOMS — LVP and tile are the go-to options. Both handle moisture well and are easy to clean. Avoid solid hardwood entirely in full bathrooms.
HOME GYMS — Rubber flooring is purpose-built for this space. It's impact-resistant, easy to clean, and protects your subfloor from equipment.
What do I need to know about flooring underlayment and transitions?
These details matter more than most people realize.
UNDERLAYMENT goes between your subfloor and your finished flooring. It provides cushion, sound absorption, and moisture protection. Some flooring products come with underlayment pre-attached — we'll let you know what's needed for your specific product.
TRANSITIONS are the strips that bridge flooring between rooms, different floor heights, or where flooring meets carpet or tile. They create a clean, finished look and protect the flooring edges. Most of our vendors offer coordinating transition pieces for their product lines.
Tile sets the foundation for everything else in the space, so it should be selected first. Once your tile is confirmed, you can build out the rest of your selections around it — trim, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, vanities, shower doors, and more. Locking in your tile early also protects your project timeline and prevents delays downstream.
Most tile is priced by the box. Mosaic tiles and trim pieces are typically priced by the piece or linear foot. You'll need your exact square footage to get an accurate order quantity, and we always recommend adding 10–15% for cuts, waste, and future repairs. We'll help you calculate all of this when you request a quote.
We don't stock tile on-site — we order directly from our vendors, which is how we keep pricing sharp. Most in-stock tile ships within 2–3 business days. Special order items typically take 10–14 business days. If anything is backordered, we'll notify you immediately so you can wait or make a new selection. No surprises.
It depends on your experience level, the tile type, and the complexity of your space. Porcelain and ceramic are more forgiving for confident DIYers. Natural stone and glass require more precision and are better suited for experienced installers or contractors. Regardless of who installs, always purchase 10–15% extra for cuts, waste, and future replacements. Not sure what your tile requires? Ask us — we'll give you a straight answer.
Beyond style and color, tile selection comes down to three performance factors: hardness (PEI rating), slip resistance, and water absorption rate.
KITCHENS — Floor tile should have a higher PEI rating to handle foot traffic. Popular options include ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, and vinyl. For backsplashes, almost anything works — porcelain, ceramic, glass, metal, and natural stone are all common choices.
BATHROOMS — Lower PEI ratings are acceptable since foot traffic is lighter, but moisture resistance is critical. Choose matte or textured finishes for shower floors and wet areas to reduce slip risk. Porcelain, ceramic, glass, and natural stone are all strong choices.
OUTDOOR — You need non-porous, slip-resistant, freeze-thaw stable tile. Outdoor porcelain and unpolished natural stone are excellent. Avoid cement tile in climates with hard freezes — it can crack over time.
Not sure what's right for your specific project? We'll help you narrow it down.
What do I need to know about grout, mortar, and trim?
These finishing materials complete your installation and protect your investment — don't overlook them.
GROUT fills the joints between tiles, seals out moisture, and finishes the look. The most common types are sanded (wider joints, floors, high-traffic areas), unsanded (thin joints, shower walls), and epoxy (high-moisture and high-traffic areas, very durable). We'll recommend the right type for your application.
MORTAR is the adhesive that bonds tile to your surface. The right mortar depends on your tile type and substrate — we'll spec this out when we build your quote.
TRIM caps the edges where tile meets walls, transitions, or corners. It creates a clean, professional finish and protects tile edges from chipping. Most of our vendors offer matching trim for their tile lines.
SEALER protects porous tile and grout from staining. If you're using natural stone, unsealed grout, or tile in a high-use area, a sealer is worth it. Think of it as insurance for your investment.
The right sink depends on your cabinet size, how you cook, and your style. Undermount sinks are the most popular choice for easy cleanup. Workstation sinks with built-in accessories are great for active cooks. Farmhouse/apron sinks make a strong design statement. We'll help you match sink type to your cabinet specs and layout.
Faucets are configured by the number of holes in your sink deck — 1-hole, 3-hole, or 4-hole. Single-handle faucets typically need 1–3 holes. Bridge faucets need 3. We'll confirm your sink's hole configuration and recommend compatible faucets when you request a quote.
Match your fixtures to your cabinet hardware for a cohesive look. Matte black pairs beautifully with white or natural wood kitchens. Brushed nickel is the most versatile finish across transitional and modern styles. Polished chrome stays classic. Brushed gold adds warmth. We carry all finishes — just let us know what direction you're going.
Pot fillers are functional upgrades, not requirements. They're most useful for kitchens with a range or cooktop where carrying heavy pots of water is inconvenient. They require a wall-mounted water line above your cooking surface — something to confirm with your plumber early in the renovation.
Your quote will include itemized pricing for each fixture (sink, faucet, pot filler if applicable), freight costs, and lead time. We'll also flag any compatibility considerations — like drain configurations or installation depth — before you finalize.
The valve is the internal plumbing component installed inside your wall — it controls water flow and temperature. The trim kit is the visible decorative part: the handle, plate, and knob. Valves and trim kits must be compatible with each other and are often sold separately. We'll help you confirm compatibility when you request a quote.
It depends on how many holes are pre-drilled in your sink or vanity top. Single-hole faucets fit a 1-hole configuration. Widespread faucets (with separate hot/cold handles) typically need 3 holes spread 6–16 inches apart. We'll confirm your vanity's hole configuration and recommend the right faucet style.
A freestanding tub filler stands independently on the floor next to your tub — it requires a floor rough-in and works best with freestanding soaking tubs. A deck-mount filler mounts directly on the tub's deck or surrounding ledge. Your rough-in location determines which type is possible in your space.
Match your plumbing finish to your lighting and accessories for a pulled-together look. Matte black is bold and modern. Brushed gold adds warmth and pairs beautifully with white or wood vanities. Satin nickel is the most versatile across transitional and traditional styles. Polished chrome stays classic and easy to clean. We carry all finishes — just tell us your direction.
Your quote will include itemized pricing for each fixture (shower system, vanity faucet, tub filler, etc.), freight costs, and lead time. We'll also flag any rough-in or valve compatibility considerations before you finalize so there are no surprises at installation.
Pull length is based on the size of the door or drawer it's going on. For standard drawers, 3–4" pulls are common. For larger drawers and base cabinets, 5–8" bar pulls look most proportional. For upper cabinet doors, a knob or 3–4" pull works well. We'll help you confirm sizing when you request a quote.
This is a style choice, but there's a common convention: knobs on doors, pulls on drawers. Many homeowners use pulls throughout for a cleaner, more modern look. Mixing is totally fine when done consistently. We'll help you find a combination that fits your cabinet style and makes sense for daily use.
The cleanest approach is to match your hardware finish to your faucet and light fixture finish. If you're running brushed gold plumbing, brushed gold hardware ties the room together. If you want intentional contrast — like matte black hardware with chrome plumbing — keep it consistent throughout the space so it reads as a design decision, not an accident.
Matte and satin finishes show fewer fingerprints and scratches than polished finishes. Brushed nickel and matte black are among the most durable for high-traffic kitchens. Polished chrome and polished brass look stunning but require more upkeep. We'll tell you honestly what to expect from any finish you're considering.
Your quote will include per-piece pricing, total quantity based on your cabinet count, finish confirmation, and lead time. Not sure how many pieces you need? Just tell us your cabinet layout — we'll count it out for you.
Accessories are one of the last selections in a bathroom — but they should be decided before your plumbing fixtures are finalized. Why? Because you want your towel bars, robe hooks, and toilet paper holder to match your faucet and shower finish exactly. Lock in your plumbing finish first, then select your accessories to coordinate.
You don't have to, but it's strongly recommended. Sets ensure consistent finish, weight, and design language across every piece — towel bar, hand towel ring, toilet paper holder, and robe hook all look intentional together. Mixing pieces from different collections often results in subtle but noticeable mismatches.
A good rule of thumb is to choose a mirror that's slightly narrower than your vanity — typically 2–4 inches smaller on each side. For double vanities, you can use one large mirror or two individual mirrors centered over each sink. We'll help you confirm sizing based on your vanity width and ceiling height.
Yes — this is the most important finish decision in a bathroom. Your towel bars, robe hooks, and toilet paper holder should match your faucet, shower trim, and lighting finish as closely as possible. If you can't get an exact match, stay within the same finish family (e.g., all warm metals or all cool metals) to keep it cohesive.
Your quote will include per-piece pricing for each accessory, finish confirmation, quantity totals, and lead time. If you're not sure exactly what pieces you need, just tell us your bathroom layout — we'll help you build a complete coordinated set.
Cabinet Design and Layout
The L-shaped kitchen is the most popular layout because it works in a wide range of spaces, creates an efficient work triangle, and leaves room for an island or dining area. It's versatile, budget-friendly, and adapts well to both small and medium-sized kitchens.
The galley kitchen is considered the most efficient layout for a single cook. With everything within arm's reach and a clear work triangle between sink, stove, and refrigerator, it minimizes steps and maximizes workflow. U-shaped kitchens are also highly efficient, especially for households with multiple cooks.
Certainly! Contact our remodeling project consultants for personalized assistance in choosing the products that complement your space and budget and preferences.
The work triangle is the path between your sink, stove, and refrigerator—the three areas you use most while cooking. An efficient work triangle keeps these zones within 4-9 feet of each other, minimizing steps and improving workflow. The total distance of all three sides should ideally be between 13-26 feet.
Yes, but your options will be more limited. Keeping your sink in the same location saves significant costs. You can still change cabinet configurations, add an island (without a sink), or switch from galley to L-shaped if the sink stays put. Moving plumbing for sinks or dishwashers typically adds $1,500-$3,500 to your budget.
An island is freestanding with open space on all sides. A peninsula is attached to a wall or existing cabinetry on one end, forming an extension of your counter. Peninsulas work better in smaller kitchens because they don't require as much clearance space.
Galley, L-shaped, and one-wall kitchens work best in small spaces. Galley kitchens maximize efficiency in narrow rooms. L-shaped layouts keep the space open while providing good storage. One-wall kitchens are ideal for studio apartments or tiny homes where space is extremely limited.
Not necessarily. If you understand your space, how you cook, and the basic principles of kitchen workflow, you can plan a functional layout yourself. Many local showrooms offer free design consultations. If you prefer to learn the process first, Home Hack Academy teaches homeowners how kitchen design works—so you can make informed decisions whether you hire help or go it alone.
Yes. Most cabinet lines, including Rose Hill Cabinets, are designed with modular sizing that adapts to any layout—galley, L-shaped, U-shaped, or island. The key is selecting the right cabinet widths and configurations for your specific space. Corner cabinets, pantry units, and base cabinets are mix-and-match components that work across all layouts.
L-shaped and island kitchens tend to have the broadest appeal for resale because they work in most homes and feel open and modern. However, the best layout for resale is one that's functional and well-executed—not trendy but impractical. Focus on good workflow, adequate storage, and quality finishes rather than chasing a specific layout style.
Measure your space accurately, sketch out your layout, and walk through the motions of cooking in the space. Stand where your sink, stove, and refrigerator would be. Can you move comfortably between them? Is there enough counter space for prep? Will cabinet doors hit each other when open? These physical tests reveal problems before you order cabinets.
Costs vary widely depending on whether you're moving plumbing, electrical, or gas lines:
Labor, materials, and permits all affect total cost. Learning how to manage your project and source materials directly can save 30% or more.
You can absolutely order a single item! Bundling saves you money (5-15% off + free shipping), but it's not required. Whether you need one light fixture or a full kitchen, the process is the same.
